REG : THE WAIKATO AREA HEALTH DISTRICT (TRIENNIAL GENERAL ELECTION AND BOUNDARIES) ORDER 1989 TYPE : Explanatory Note YEAR : 1989 COMDATE : 18 July 1989 TEXT : EXPLANATORY NOTE This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect. This order--- (a) Abolishes the Waikato Area Health District, the Thames Hospital District, and the Taumarunui Hospital District as from the close of 10 December 1989; and (b) Constitutes on 11 December 1989 a new area health district under the name of the Waikato Area Health District; and (c) Declares the boundaries that are to be deemed to be the boundaries of the Waikato Area Health District for the purposes of the triennial general election of members of local authorities to be held on 14 October 1989; and (d) Declares the areas that are to be constituent districts of the Waikato Area Health District for the purposes of that election. On 11 December 1989 (the 58th day after polling day for that election) the boundaries so declared will become the boundaries of the Waikato Area Health District and the constituent districts so declared will become constituent districts of that area health district. Some constituent districts are combined into combined districts for the purpose of the election of representatives on the area health board. At the triennial general election to be held on 14 October 1989, no election will take place in relation to the Waikato Area Health Board, the Thames Hospital Board, and the Taumarunui Hospital Board (the Boards being abolished). The representatives on those Boards at the close of the day before polling day will continue to hold office until the close of 10 December 1989. ------ Issued under the authority of the Regulations Act 1936.
