9. Fire Authority's powers in areas of urban vegetation---In respect
of any sufficiently described area of vegetation situate within the
jurisdiction of the New Zealand Fire Service Commission, the powers of a
Fire Authority under this Act may be exercised, notwithstanding any
provisions otherwise in any other enactment,---
(a) By any Fire Authority to the extent of any agreement or
arrangement made between it and the Commission pursuant to
section 14 (2) of this Act; or
(b) By any local authority to the extent of any agreement or
arrangement made by that local authority with the Minister [of
Forestry] and that Commission and published or notified in the
Gazette:
Provided that the area shall not thereby cease to be subject to the
jurisdiction of the Commission.
In para. (b) the words ``of Forestry'' were inserted by s. 2 (1)
(a) of the Forest and Rural Fires Amendment Act 1987.
