1. Short Title and commencement---(1) This Act may be cited as the
 Forest and Rural Fires Act 1977.

   (2) This Act shall come into force on a date to be appointed by the
 Governor-General by Order in Council.

       This Act came into force on 1 April 1979; see S.R. 1979/31.
       As to consents under this Act for environmental purposes, see ss.
     2 and 21 (c) (i) of the Environment Act 1986.
