PART I
PRELIMINARY PROVISIONS RELATING TO LAND TRANSPORT
2. Interpretation---In this Act, unless the context otherwise
requires,---
``Authority'' means the Land Transport Safety Authority of New
Zealand established by section 15 of this Act:
``Director'' means the person who is for the time being the Director
of Land Transport Safety under section 24 of this Act:
``Financial year'', in relation to the Authority, means the period
of 12 months commencing with the 1st day of July and ending with
the 30th day of June:
``Land transport documents'' means licences and other documents
relating to land transport issued under the Transport Act 1962,
the Road User Charges Act 1977, the Transport (Vehicle and
Driver Registration and Licensing) Act 1986, the Transit New
Zealand Act 1989, and the Transport Services Licensing Act 1989:
``Land Transport Register'' includes any registers kept under the
Transport (Vehicle and Driver Registration and Licensing) Act
1986 and the Transport Services Licensing Act 1989 and other
information and records relating to vehicle and operator
licensing kept by the Authority:
``Local authority'' means any regional council or territorial
authority within the meaning of the Local Government Act 1974:
``Member'' means a person appointed under section 15 of this Act as
a member of the Authority:
``Minister'' means the Minister of Transport:
``Ministry'' means the Ministry of Transport:
``Outputs'' means the goods and services that are produced by the
Authority:
``Performance agreement'' means a performance agreement approved or
agreed to or determined under section 21 of this Act:
``Rules'' means rules made by the Minister under Part II of this
Act:
``Secretary'' means the Secretary for Transport:
``Service charter'' means a service charter prepared and made
available to the public under section 22 of this Act:
``Vehicle'' has the same meaning as in section 2 (1) of the
Transport Act 1962.
